Remembering the Gurindji strike: Land rights and working class struggle

Introduced by Tanya McConvell, who lived in the Gurindji strike camp during the 1970s.
One of the longest and most famous strikes in Australian History started in 1966, when Aboriginal workers walked off cattle stations in the Northern Territory. They set up a strike camp on their land, which had been leased to Lord Vestey - owner of the biggest cattle company in the world. The strike was crucial in the development of the Land Rights movement.
